Special Notes
APT Rebuilt Rocker Sets, A & B Series:
This is how we do them, and if you want to do your own then this is a guide.
We offer several configurations, but the process is fairly much the same for all of them.
The process always starts with stripping and cleaning, and then removing the old adjusting screws and pushing out the bushes. A specially shaped sleeve is required for some rockers to properly support it.
Next  ('A' series only) is drill out the threads and retap to 5/16" X 28 TPI
This is so we can replace the 9/32" adjusters originally fitted.
In addition to being smaller the originals are drilled to supply oil to the cup of the push rod, this is a proven weak point, especially when you work them harder.
The drilling seems like a good idea, but in reality, oil is flung everywhere, and for the same reason rocker bushes do not come anymore with a drilled hole to squirt oil at the contact end of the rocker, they are just not required.
The threads for the 9/32 and 5/16 adjusting screws are both 28 TPI so this works out nicely for a good thread.

Once the bushes are out, all the parts that will be reused go to the hot tank.
Following this the new bushes can be pushed in, and obviously the orientation of the offset bushes is important, but at the same time not super critical.

All rocker bushes require reaming and possibly honing. Reamers should be left hand and helical cut.

Once the rockers are 'sized' to fit the rocker shaft the pad must be resurfaced to be square with the shaft and with the correct radius.
Putting old rockers that have a wear step in them on an engine where something major has been changed  will result in noisy rockers and increased wear.

Ready to be reassembled with a plasma ion nitrided shaft, with an upgrade to 5/16" solid type adjusting screws.('A' series)
Springs between the rockers
work just fine. Solid spacers can be fitted
Assembled 'A' series set.
REMEMBER small bore engines use a different pillar to supply  oil than the 1275 engine. CHECK IT

'B' series rocker fitted with offset bush, and contact pad refaced.

'A' series pressed steel type rocker,
fitted with an offset bush ready for honing. Pad has been refaced.
These rockers are not bad for weight, and actually give a ratio  close to what it should be, 1.26
The offset bush makes them about 1.3
When used in a high RPM race engine we consider it a good idea to spot the join at the top with a welder. This adds more strength with minimum weight.
