DM_dyno.jpg (16640 bytes) 1380 Mini motor on APT Superflow dyno. Attended by Dave Mountain of Mountune Race Engines in England. This was part of our testing for the developement of the Megadyn range of cams for Kent Cams in the UK. Dave Mountain doesn't build Mini motors anymore, but if you need a 600 HP turbo charged Ford Cosworth engine he is the person to talk to.

end_view_wedge.jpg (19598 bytes)1275 Mini crank wedging detail, side view.

Wdg-MGB.JPG (16250 bytes) 5 main MGB crank. Taking material from the crank pin side of the crank has the effect of making the crank better counter weighted.

Wedge_Crank.jpg (19524 bytes) Compare this wedged crank to a standard item. The more the crank can ve smoothed and sharp edges removed the better. This is very time consuming, but is a good indoor job for the winter!

metered_oil_hole.jpg (22488 bytes) Cranks with brass plugs should have them removed, the holes tapped, and screw in metering plugs installed. This is an APT MGA crank.

L_MGBrod.jpg (14387 bytes) Most A & B series rods especially can be lightened considerably by removing excess weight from the small end. This can be done by hand with care, but is best done in the milling machine like this.

Borecrnk.jpg (11355 bytes) Early inline engines that used an 'oilite' bronze bush can be converted to the later needle roller bearing type by boring out the inside of the rear flange to a larger diameter to accomadate the bearing.
