B series cylinder heads, stainless rimflo valves, bronze guides MGB MGA

With an extensive shop devoted very much towards cylinder head work, APT can offer maximum performance heads either for full race or a mildly hotted up road car.
The internal combustion engine, and the power it will produce hinges around how much air (oxygen) can fill the cylinder.
Sure you can fit 'bigger' cams, carbs and so on, but at the end of the day, if the head does not flow you are fighting a loosing battle.

The part numbers below cover all 'B' Series engine sizes and any casting from 1489 to 1800cc engine sizes.
Each head is modified to the customers requirements. This means we sit down and discuss exactly what is required, how it will be matched to its use and take care of coming up with the compression ratio that will work the best and to suit the octane available.
Heads are normally available outright rather than exchange if that would suit you better.

The thing to keep in mind is that even if you are not building a full race engine we still advise that you get the very best flowing (not necessarily the one with the biggest ports!) head that will fit in with your budget.
If the head flows well, then cam, compression ratio, exhaust header/system, induction can all be on the 'moderate' side and you will have a very nice running engine that performs reliably through a wide power band.

We also prepare cylinder heads to SCCA specs, both National and "Limited Prep"
