| Author details: | David Knowles is Secretary of the MG Car Club V8 Register and writes a monthly column on MG V8 affairs in the club magazine, 'Safety Fast'. He describes his interest in the marque as having typical schoolboy roots: visits during childhood to relatives in Farington, Oxfordshire, led to many excursions to the Abingdon area and frequent sightings of transporters laden with MGB bodies thundering past his aunt's front door. His specific interest in the MGB GT V8 arose with the car's public debut at the 1973 Earl's Court Motor Show, soon after which his music teacher bought a V8 and burbled into the school car park with irresistible aural effect. | ||||||
