Author details: Chris Horton has been a full-time motoring journalist since joining the staff of 'Car Mechanics' in 1978. After editing 'Kit Cars and Specials' from 1981 to 1982, he worked on 'Sports Car Mechanics' and then 'Classic Car Mechanics', taking over as editor of the latter in 1986. The magazine was later renamed 'Restoring Classic Cars' and then 'Your classic', and it is as Editor-at-large of the latter that he currently earns his living. He has contributed to many other motoring magazines, both in the UK and abroad. Aged 35, he lives in Oxfordshire with his family, five classic Rover saloons and four cats.
