Many British built cars used the A-Series engine, both family saloon and performance sports cars. The Mini Cooper S was eventually offered in 3 engine sizes: 970, 1071 & 1275cc BMC was later incorporated into that great big hole in
the ground known as British Leyland, abbreviated BL. (Leyland did the same with the heavy truck and bus division, and very little now remains of that, and except for Unipower doing a good job of carrying the flag for what is my own favorite, Scammell, all the old names such as Albion are now gone).
